The BitPay cryptocurrency operator has added support for XRP, which gives users of the service the ability to accept and receive payments from customers in this cryptocurrency.
The company first announced plans to add XRP support by the end of the year back in October. Now XRP has added to the list of cryptocurrencies and stable coins supported by the service, which currently includes BTC, ETH, BCH, USDC, GUSD, and PAX. Recall that BitPay added support for USDC, GUSD, and PAX last month.
Now firms such as Amazon, Microsoft, NewEgg and Burger King will accept XRP to pay for gift cards. BitPay product Director Sean Rolland noted the benefits of adding XRP support and praised the cryptocurrency’s transaction speed and scalability:
“BitPay customers use blockchain payment options and can use XRP to offer customers a fast, cost-effective and scalable payment method. Adding XRP as the next asset supported by BitPay expands the use of blockchain in the payment industry.”
We also recall that OneGold, a trading blockchain platform for buying, selling and redeeming precious metals, announced a partnership with BitPay earlier this month that will allow customers to buy gold and other valuable metals using cryptocurrencies.
